Installation Guide

Looping the cable wrap around your catalytic converter:
1.  Loosen the tamperproof shear nuts from each wire rope clip so that the six cables of the cable wrap are free from the wire rope clips.

2.  Loop the cable wrap (six cables) around your catalytic converter as shown above by pulling both ends of the cable wrap (in opposite directions) through a wire rope clip positioned at the midpoint of the underside of your catalytic converter.  Make sure that the curved portion of the wire rope clip will be flush against your catalytic converter when the cable wrap is tightened.  This positioning prevents cutting attempts from being performed on the wire rope clip.

3.  Pull one end of the cable wrap through the wire rope clip extends out past the wire rope clip (as shown above on the right side of the photo).

4.  Manually pull the other end of the cable wrap (i.e., the end of the cable wrap on the left side of the photo) all the way through the wire rope clip so that a somewhat tight loop is formed around your catalytic converter.

5.  Tighten down each tamperproof shear nut (with a socket wrench) just enough to keep the loop around your catalytic converter in place.

Tightening/locking the cable wrap araround your catalytic converter:

6.  While holding in place the ends of of the six cables that are extending out past the wire rope clip by 3-6 inches (the ends of the cable wrap extending towards the right in the photo directly above), pull each individual cable end that is extending towards the left of the photo (with a pair of pliers) as tightly as possible through the wire rope clip.  Note that the curved portion of the wire rope clip is now held tightly against the bottom side of the catalytic converter to minimize the exposure of the wire rope clip to tampering.

7.  Tighten down each tamperproof shearnut slightly (i.e., one-quarter to one-half  turn each).

Step 8, The Key To a Proper CATCUFF Installation:

8.  Repeat steps 6 and 7 above until the cable wrap cannot be moved along the length of your catalytic converter nor be rotated around the perimeter of your catalytic converter.  The cable wrap should look like the picture directly above.

*NOTE:  During the repeating of steps 6 and 7, be sure to shake and rock the wire rope clip back and forth around your catalytic converter to ensure that there is no slack left in any of the cables around your catalytic converter.  An example of "rocking" and "shaking" the wire rope clip and cable wrap is shown here:

9.  Once the cable wrap can no longer be moved, apply enough torque to each tamper-proof shear nut such that the hex head portion of each shearnut breaks away from the cone portion of the shearnut as shown here:

The cable wrap is now permanently and immovably locked around your catalytic converter.

Locking the cable wrap around a
frame rail/cross-member:

10.  Wrap the free end of the cable wrap tightly around a frame rail or frame cross-member.  Wind the wrap around the frame member multiple times if necessary to minimize slack in the cable wrap between your catalytic converter and the frame member.  Be sure to get a tight wrap here as a substantially tight wrap around your frame rail/cross-member will allow for a vibration-free and noise-free mounting.  Lock in place with the remaining wire rope clip.  Make sure that the curved portion of this wire rope clip is held tightly against a surface of the frame member to minimize the exposure of the wire rope clip to tampering.

11.  Apply enough torque to each tamperproof shear nut such that the hexhead portion of the shearnut breaks away from the cone portion as shown in the photo immediately above.

12.  Take the three cable ties included with your CATCUFF and wrap them around the length of the cable wrap between the two wire rope clips.  After each cable tie is tightly fitted around the cable wrap, use a pair of scissors to cut any excess cable tie length that is extending from the cable tie.  This allows for a cleaner, uniform installation of the CATCUFF.

CONGRATULATIONS!  Your CATCUFF catalytic converter security system has been successfully installed!
